Michael Weinstein has been in the photography business for over 30 years, working initially as a portrait and fashion photographer. After moving to New York from Chicago, he transitioned into architecture and real estate photography and founded MW Studio. His work has been included in numerous architectural photography books, as well as national and international magazines.
Where to begin? Nina Poon has done it all! With a background as a fashion illustrator, makeup artist, model and actress, Nina brings an impeccable eye for design and beauty to every shoot. Having worked for MW Studio for over ten years, Nina has photographed many celebrity and high end properties throughout Manhattan. In addition to being one of our most sought after photographers, Nina also does all her own retouching. When not photographing for MW Studio, Nina works with models and designers to create stunning fashion and portrait photography.
With an M.F.A. in Photography from the Art Institute of Chicago and a B.F.A in Studio Art from the University of Oregon, Stephanie Powell has over twenty years experience as a photographer, artist and educator. In addition to working with us, Stephanie is also an internationally exhibiting artist who has recently been featured in Flaunt magazine and I Heart Photography. She is also a visiting associate professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She has worked for MW Studio for over five years and brings her artistic eye to each shoot.
Originally from Thailand, Udom moved to New York City in 1985. He studied studio art at Hunter College and subsequently received a Masters in Communication Arts from the New York Institute of Technology. For over twenty years Udom has worked with New York City architects, interior designers and magazines on special projects. His work has appeared in national and international magazines such as Architectural Records, Metropolitan Homes, Wallpaper, Elle Decoration, The New York Times and others. He has worked for MW Studio for four years and brings his own unique perspective to each shoot.
Vala came to us via Miami where she worked with some of the most successful interior designers and architects. Her past experience in styling on Miami commercial productions is a perfect blend with her interior photography. Many of her clients have come to depend on her creative eye for styling their shoots. Vala’s other passion is for portrait photography, which began before the age of digital photography. Her favorite past time for the last 10 years, has been capturing and preserving through her photography urban mural art. Vala’s creative and discerning eye for interior photography makes her the perfect addition to the MW Studio team.
Originally from Illinois, Julia attended St. Michael's College in Vermont where she studied Political Science. Rather than continuing on to law school, she decided to move to New York City fifteen years ago and began taking photographs. A graduate of the International Center of Photography’s Photojournalism and Documentary Studies program, her personal work has been exhibited at The Brooklyn Museum, The New York Historical Society, The International Center of Photography, Capricious, Powerhouse Gallery and Galleri Lundh Astrand (Sweden). She is also the photo editor of the Diner Journal. Having worked for years as an independent real estate photographer in New York and Brooklyn, we are excited to have brought her on board as part of the MW Studio team.
Sonia’s photographs have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad, including the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, the California Museum of Photography, Daniel Azoulay Gallery in Miami, Florida, and Estación Tijuana in Tijuana, Mexico. Sonia is the recipient of various honors and awards, such as the 2010 Outwin Boochever People’s Choice Award at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and Honorable Mention for The World-Wide Photography Gala Robert Cornelius Award for Portraiture. Sonia currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she absorbs the limitless cultural experiences while honing her art practice as well as her architectural and real estate photography.
Monique is originally from New Zealand and came to live in New York City in 2012. She began working with MW Studio shortly thereafter, and is an invaluable member of our team. She has over thirteen years experience as a photo retoucher and graphic designer, and spent 6 years working for New Zealand's leading newspaper, The New Zealand Herald. With her expert photoshop skills, Monique brings out the best in each unique interior and exterior we photograph. In her spare time, Monique manages her food blog, Lip-Smacking Food, where she reviews restaurants across the city and posts her own inventive recipes.
A Japanese-born, internationally known artist, Ayumi trained in photography at both Osaka University of Arts in Japan and the International Center for Photography. Her personal work has been shown internationally in Japan, Germany, and throughout the United States. Ayumi brings an artist's delicate touch to each image she retouches.
Dorota Wnuk studied Interior Design and Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and has lived in New York City since the early 80's. For years she ran her own interior design business and worked closely with many New York City architectural firms before joining MW Studio in 2011. Her background in interior design gives her an excellent understanding of what makes an interior shine.
Our Drone Operator
Tom Urban is a certified commercial drone pilot whose fascination with drone technology stems from an early love of building and flying RC helicopters. Tom custom-built his Tarot Ironman 650 quadcopter with all the bells and whistles, including GoPro and FPV cameras, and he also utilizes a DJI Inspire 1 Pro to capture stunning 4k video and high-resolution images.
Our Floor Plan Artist
With over 10 years of experience, Craig brings the highest level of expertise and artfulness to each of his floor plans. His eye for detail in each and every job reflects his extensive background and training in architectural drawing. In his previous life, Craig applied that level of awareness and detail to the worlds of theatre, opera, and music. Finally coming full circle, Craig has found his niche as a floor plan artist. His clean, concise, and up-to-date floor plans have and continue to bring each property’s unique assets to the front whether it is a modest rental or a multi-million dollar listing.
